Subject

Magnetism is the attraction between adjacent bodies due to their collective atomic magnetic charges, and attraction or repulsion due to their combined electro-magnetic fields.

There are in fact three types of magnetism;
1) non-polar magnetic charge which radiates universally and only attracts all other magnetic charges.
2) polar electro-magnetic field generated naturally by a proton-electron pair that accumulates collectively in matter.
3) polar electro-magnetic field generated due to an artificially induced electrical current.

The magnetism calculator determines the potential forces and energies radiated by all of the above; gravitational, bar (type) and electro-magnetic coil.

The gravity calculation option may look like gravitational force between celestial bodies, but because mass is magnetic charge, the values you enter for mass, simply represent the collective magnetic charge in all of the bodies' atomic elements. This calculation applies equally to a couple of pebbles, but the attraction is negligible at such a level.

The bar-magnet calculation option is based upon the alignment of the matter's shell-1 proton-electron pairs. The efficiency input value reflects the percentage alignment. If you enter 100% you will achieve the theoretical upper limit of magnetic strength, but this will not be the case in aged or poorly magnetised magnets.

Electro-magnetic coils are used to induce magnetism in ferro-magnetic matter, such as in the plunger of a solenoid. We offer two calculation methods for this option; 1) that which is in general use today, and 2) an alternative calculation method based upon Coulomb's and Henry's forces that include the effects of temperature.
